In this Language Corner we wanted to share some tips regarding the addressing title when it comes to communicating with female interlocutors, especially important in business communication.
The three options available to us are: Miss, Ms. and Mrs.
We use “Miss” when addressing young women and generally women under 30 that are unmarried.
We use “Ms.” when we are not sure of a woman’s marital status, if a woman is unmarried and over 30 or if she prefers being addressed with a marital-status neutral title.
We use “Mrs.” when addressing a married woman.
